DIMAPUR - KOHIMA - DIMAPUR
5 NIGHTS / 6 DAYS
DAY 1 : ARRIVE IN DIMAPUR - KOHIMA (70 km / 2 hrs)
Arrival at Dimapur airport. Meet and greet with our representative and start your drive towards Kohima, the capital city of Nagaland. On your way, you will pass through small hamlets and marketplaces where villagers sell their products ranging from locally grown vegetables, seasonal fruits, some handloom, handicrafts, cane and bamboo items etc. Check-in at the guest house on arrival. Overnight stay.
Kohima is perched at an altitude of 1444 above sea level, a pretty hill station, with panoramic views of the rugged Naga Hills. It is the land of the Angami Naga tribe, which is one of the major tribe in Nagaland. Angami were traditionally warriors, and in the past the Angami men spent the majority of their time in warfare with hostile villages and taking heads. Kohima had also witnessed the fiercest fighting during WWII.
DAY 2 : KOHIMA SIGHTSEEING
Let Kohima unveil its stories starting at the Kohima War Cemetery, a solemn tribute to WWII heroes. Proceed to the Cathedral Church and admire its captivating architecture. Dive into the region's history at the Nagaland State Museum before ending your day marvelling at the diverse fauna at Kohima Zoo. Return to your hotel and overnight.
DAY 3 : KOHIMA SIGHTSEEING
After relishing a local breakfast delicacy, head to the Kachari Ruins, where ancient structures tell tales of yore. Refresh your senses at the Rangapahar Reserve Forest before being spellbound by the cascading Triple Falls. Finish your day exploring the charm of Chumukeidma.
DAY 4 : KOHIMA - DAY TRIP TO KHONOMA & LOCAL SIGHTSEEING (45 km / 2 hrs)
After breakfast, drive to Khonoma village, inhabited by the Angami tribe. This village is surrounded by lush green hills and terraced fields; it is renowned for its conservation efforts. Walk around the village, see and experience the lifestyle of villagers compared to city dwellers. Visit the 03 forts from where the Angami’s carried out attacks against British troops.
Angami people are popular for their art work and mastery in bamboo, wood crafts. With its charming traditional houses, friendly locals, and thriving biodiversity, Khonoma offers a unique experience of Naga heritage and sustainable living. Khonoma village is renowned for its valour and courage. The Khonoma gate is the symbol of valor and courage and tells the story of British infiltration into Naga Hills and how British had to face fierce retaliation from the Nagas. The Angami Naga is known to be the last bastion of the Naga warriors and there are a number of memorial stones that celebrate their achievements.
DAY 5 : KOHIMA - DAY TRIP TO KIGWEMA (20 km / 1 hr)
Today after breakfast we shall also visit the famous Kohima Cathedral, built during the mid-20th century. This place has as much cultural value as to history. It was built to acknowledge the bravery and sacrifice of the fallen soldiers during the World War II. Also visit Kisama Naga Heritage Complex where the Hornbill Festival is celebrated annually. This pavilion serves as Window to Nagaland (WTN), aims to showcase the state in a single platform, through which one can have a peep into the Naga Heritage.
Continue your drive to Kigwema village, inhabited by the Angami tribe, and have a village walk around and get an idea about the Japanese invasion and their technique. Return to your hotel and overnight.
DAY 6 : KOHIMA - DIMPAUR AIRPORT (70 km / 2 hrs)
Post breakfast, you will be transferred to Dimapur airport for your onward journey.
ENTRY FORMALITIES FOR NAGALAND
FOR INDIAN NATIONALS
All tourists (both Indian and foreign nationals) need an ILP (Inner Line Permit) to enter the state of Nagaland. The following documents are required to process the ILP (for Indian nationals):
1) Full Name, Age & Occupation
2) Permanent Address
3) Aadhar Card/Voter Card/Passport/Driving license
4) Passport size photographs.
** Scanned copies of the above documents will also suffice.
FOR FOREIGN NATIONALS
All tourists (both Indian and foreign nationals) need an ILP (Inner Line Permit) to enter the state of Nagaland. The following documents are required to process the ILP (for Foreign nationals):
1) Photocopy of valid Passport & VISA.
2) Passport-size photographs.
** Scanned copies of the above documents will also suffice.
- In case clients are having the facility of e-Visa or Visa on arrival, we will require copies of the same along with international flight tickets (both arrival and departure).
