DIMAPUR - KOHIMA - DIMAPUR

DAY 1 : ARRIVAL AT DIMAPUR AIRPORT - KOHIM (70km / 2hrs approx)
Arrival at Dimapur airport. Meet and greet with our representative and start your drive towards Kohima, the capital city of Nagaland. On your way, you will pass through small hamlets and marketplaces where villagers sell their products ranging from locally grown vegetables, seasonal fruits, some handloom, handicrafts, cane and bamboo items etc. Check-in at the guest house on arrival. Later if willing and interested, we can drive down to the Kisama heritage village just to enjoy the late afternoon on the eve of the festival. Return to your guest house and overnight.
Kohima is perched at an altitude of 1444 above sea level, a pretty hill station, with panoramic views of the rugged Naga Hills. It is the land of the Angami Naga tribe, which is one of the major tribe in Nagaland. Angami were traditionally warriors, and in the past the Angami men spent the majority of their time in warfare with hostile villages and taking heads. Kohima had also witnessed the fiercest fighting during WWII.
DAY 2 & 3 : KOHIMA
Two full days will be spent at the Kisama Heritage Grounds, the main area where most of the activities for the hornbill festival take place. Full day at Hornbill Festival. Return to your hotel & overnight.
Hornbill Festival is celebrated for the first ten days of December (from 1st to 10th December) every year within the confines of a heritage village Kisama, Kohima, Hornbill Festival is an annual cultural extravaganza celebrated by the tribal people in the state of Nagaland. Named after the hornbill, a globally respected bird that shows up in the folklore of most of the state’s tribes. This Festival aims at sustaining, reviving, and protecting the richness of the Naga culture and heritage. This also gives visitors, an opportunity to get a ringside view of the enchanting land, its people and its culture which is done through a cultural extravaganza worth experiencing. This ten-day-long festival unites all of Nagaland, in one giant colour-splashed hodgepodge of dances, folk songs, handlooms, handicrafts, parades, games, sports, ethnic food fairs and religious ceremonies of all Naga tribes.
DAY 4 : KOHIMA - DIMAPUR AIRPORT
After breakfast you be dropped back at Dimapur Airport.
